Mobile Phone User Preferences

Introduction

Many vendors are competing to produce the most modern mobile phone that has high specification but still low price cope with level of economy of society in general. The survey was conducted to find out what the craving mobile phone that users prefer.

Method

The survey has 22 question and uses google form service. It was embedded on my blog then shared in WhatsApp contact group and timeline of some social medias, sent personal message to my friends via BlackBerry Messenger to fill a questionnaire. Forty-five people have filled on Monday, 9 May, with approximately equal numbers of male (47,7 %) and female (52,3 %) and 95 percent of them were teenagers.

Findings

The result of survey shows that almost all of the respondents use Android Smartphone. Approximately 80 percent of respondents prefer to choose dual sim card smartphone. Most of them (67 percent) have smartphone with the black dominant color, some of them (25 percent) have white colour, and others (8 percent) have red mobile phone. 95 percent of the respondents have camera - mostly 80 percent that have flashlight on it- and also have radio in their mobile phone. The result has variant numbers of application that respondents have; 22 percent of them have 6 – 10 applications, 29 percent have 11 – 15 applications, 25 percent have 16 – 20 applications, 20 percent have more than 20 applications, and the rest have less than 5 applications and they usually update the application when application update is available. Battery capacity is very important thing for users and a half of the respondents have battery capacity on their mobile phone 2000 – 2500mAh also a half of the respondent have internal memory capacity 1 – 4 gb. Average of mobile phone price that respondents have is IDR 1500000. Big vendor like Samsung, Xiaomi, Lenovo, and Asus still being choice of respondents. Most of the respondent bought mobile phone at gadget shop. Even though, 4g was available in Indonesia 90 percent of the respondent still use 3g network. At least 80 percent of the respondent have Bluetooth in their mobile phone. The respondents often use their mobile phone for chatting, browsing, social media, and only a few of respondents playing game and taking a selfie.

Conclusion 
According the result of survey the main point was the respondents prefer using smartphone based Android than the others. Smartphone based Android provides many things that people need, for example the young in this decade addicted to taking a selfie and exist in social media; nowadays smartphone based Android provides the adequate camera and also have been applied social medias.  Vendors from China dominate in the market as they sale products cheaper than Western products and have high specification. Approximately 85 % of the respondents have phone with dual sim card; it does not mean that the respondents have more than one girl/boy friend, but they use the first sim card for sms and call with regular cost and the another sim card use for internet access use.
